ChatGPTs Traffic Sees 9.7 Percent Drop in June First Decline Since Launch of Generative AI Tool

ChatGPT , the wildly popular AI chatbot launched in November, saw monthly traffic to its website and unique visitors decline for the first time ever in June, according to analytics firm Similarweb. Worldwide desktop and mobile traffic to the ChatGPT website decreased by 9.7 percent in June from May, while unique visitors to ChatGPT's website dropped 5.7 percent. The amount of time visitors spent on the website was also down 8.5 percent, the data shows. Decreasing traffic is a sign of the chatbot's novelty wearing off, said Similarweb's Senior Insights Manager David Carr, while RBC Capital Markets analyst Rishi Jaluria explained the data points to more demand for generative AI with real-time information. OpenAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment. ChatGPT set off a frenzied use of generative AI in daily tasks from writing to coding and reached 100 million monthly active users in January, two months after its launch. It is the fastest-growing consumer a...

"Let's do this. Welcome to Threads," wrote Meta chief executive and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in his first post on the new platform. Apple Watch Ultra With Micro-LED Display Likely to Launch in 2026: Report

Apple Watch Ultra 2nd generation is said to be in development, and is likely to succeed the Apple Watch Ultra , that was unveiled in September 2022. Previous reports suggested that the watch may launch by the end of 2024 or early 2025 with a microLED display. However, a new report now suggests that the launch of the next Watch Ultra has been pushed to 2026. The company has been tipped previously to be working on microLEDs for all their devices including the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It had been tipped that the 2nd generation of the Apple Watch Ultra will be the first to have the microLED feature in its segment. Citing a TrendForce report, South Korean publication, The Elec, said in a report that the 2nd generation of the Apple Watch Ultra or the Apple Watch Ultra 2 will release later than previously anticipated. The research reportedly says that it is likely for the company to launch the smart wearable in 2026. This is a contradiction over the existing reports and leaks that s...

Account Abstraction Could Onboard Billions of Asians to Web3 Experts Predict: Heres What It Means

Asia, the largest continent comprising 51 nations, is garnering the attention of Web3 players from different parts of the world, owing to its diverse market. ‘Account abstraction' or Blockchain-based smart accounts could be the next thing that could onboard billions of Asians onto Web3, industry experts seem to believe. Essentially, account abstraction is a blockchain technology that lets users use smart contracts as their primary accounts. More Web3 players and dApps developers are customising their products in alignment with the needs and popular patterns of the Asian market. The observation was highlighted by Laura Shi, the director of strategic initiatives at ConsenSys, during a recent interview with CoinTelegraph. ConsenSys is an Ethereum software solutions provider. In the coming times, account abstraction or smart accounts could gain popularity as they would not only keep account details invisible on the Ethereum blockchain , but also allow users to control and decide how...

London Court Dismisses Apple's Appeal in Dispute With Optis Says iPhone and iPad Models Infringed 4G Patents

Apple infringed two telecommunications patents used in devices including iPhones and iPads , London's Court of Appeal ruled on Tuesday, dismissing the tech giant's appeal in a long-running dispute with a US patent holder. Texas-based Optis Cellular Technology sued Apple in 2019 over its use of patents which Optis says are essential to certain technological standards, such as 4G. London's High Court ruled last year that two of Optis' 4G patents were so-called standard essential patents and that Apple had infringed them. Apple appealed against that decision in May, arguing that the two patents in issue were not essential to 4G standards and that it had not infringed the patents. But its challenge was rejected by the Court of Appeal, with Judge Colin Birss saying in a written ruling that the High Court was "right to reject (Apple's) argument for non-infringement" and on the issue of the patents being essential. Apple and Optis did not immediately respo...

Twitter Chaos Over Tweet-Reading Limits Leaves Door Open for Metas Rival Microblogging App Threads

Elon Musk spent the weekend further alienating Twitter users with more drastic changes to the social media giant, and he is facing a new challenge as tech nemesis Mark Zuckerberg prepares to launch a rival app this week. Zuckerberg's Meta group, which owns Facebook , has listed a new app in stores as "Threads, an Instagram app", available for pre-order in the United States, with a message saying it is "expected" this Thursday. The two men have clashed for years but a recent comment by a Meta executive suggesting that Twitter was not run "sanely" irked Musk, eventually leading to the two men offering each other out for a cage fight. Since buying Twitter last year for $44 billion (roughly Rs. 3,37,465 crore), Musk has fired thousands of employees and charged users $8 a month to have a blue checkmark and a "verified" account. On the weekend, he limited the posts readers could view and decreed that nobody could look at a tweet unless they ...
