WhatsApp Banned Around 37 Lakh User Accounts in India in December 2022, Slightly Lower Than November

Instant messaging platform WhatsApp on Wednesday said it banned 36.77 lakh accounts in India in December, marginally lower than the number of accounts it barred in the preceding month. The banned WhatsApp accounts in India include 13.89 lakh accounts which were barred proactively before being flagged by users. In November, WhatsApp banned 37.16 lakh accounts in the country, including 9.9 lakh accounts which were barred proactively. "Between December 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022, 3,677,000 WhatsApp accounts were banned. 1,389,000 of these accounts were proactively banned, before any reports from users," WhatsApp said in its India Monthly Report for December published under the Information Technology Rules 2021. The tougher IT rules, which came into effect last year, mandate large digital platforms (with over 50 lakh users) to publish compliance reports every month, mentioning the details of complaints received and action taken. Huawei Tipped to Announce a New Chipset Based on New Packaging Technology This Year

Huawei has been facing a plethora of US restrictions around the export of 5G and other technologies for the past few years. Since 2021, the Chinese smartphone brand was solely depending on Qualcomm for chipsets. Apple's Foldable iPad Will Not Debut in 2024, 20.5-Inch Foldable Notebook to Hit Shelves: Analysts

Apple is said to be working on an iPad model with a foldable display that was reported to launch next year. Details of the purported tablet have been previously leaked on the Internet as well. However, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and DSCC analyst Ross Young contradict the report saying no foldable iPad will launch in 2024. DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has announced the first chapter of their long-term plans for the revamped DC Universe (DCU), via a roadmap.
