India Being Urged to Restore UPI Access for Users of Crypto Exchanges: Report

India is reportedly reconsidering to let crypto investors use Unified Payments Interface (UPI) to purchase digital assets like cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The financial authorities of India have received multiple proposals, urging them to allow the integration of UPI for crypto transactions. These proposals have been sent by crypto advocacy group Bharat Web3 Association (BWA). It is notable that this topic is being brought up now at a time when India is heading the formulation of global crypto rules under its ongoing G20 Presidency. As part of these proposals to the Indian government, the crypto-advocacy group has pointed out that India's crypto industry is reeling under high tax pressure as an aftermath of last year's crypto slump. The country's shadow ban on the sector severed the ties of traditional banks with crypto exchanges, causing inconvenience to the investor community. 'I Am Nervous About It': OpenAI Chief Concerned About Use of AI to Interfere With Elections

The CEO of OpenAI , the startup behind ChatGPT , told a Senate panel on Tuesday the use of artificial intelligence to interfere with election integrity is a "significant area of concern", adding that it needs regulation. "I am nervous about it," CEO Sam Altman said about elections and AI , adding rules and guidelines are needed. For months, companies large and small have raced to bring increasingly versatile AI to market, throwing endless data and billions of dollars at the challenge. Some critics fear the technology will exacerbate societal harms, among them prejudice and misinformation, while others warn AI could end humanity itself. "There's no way to put this genie in the bottle. Globally, this is exploding," said Senator Cory Booker, one of many lawmakers with questions about how best to regulate AI. Senator Mazie Hirono noted the danger of misinformation as the 2024 election nears. "In the election context, for example, I saw a picture

France Extends Invitation to Crypto Firms Looking to Exit US’ Loose Crypto Ecosystem

The US, which is currently undergoing a tumultuous financial time, could be scaring crypto companies to flee out to the international markets. France, meanwhile, seems to be looking at this difficult situation in the US as a way to boost its own crypto and Web3 ecosystem. The country has invited crypto players looking to set their businesses outside of the US to do so in France. The development comes just a day after the European Union (EU) gave its final approval to a comprehensive set of regulations that have been curated to uniformly govern the digital assets sector in all of the EU regions. “If American players want to benefit, in the very short term, from the French regime, and from the start of 2025 from European arrangements, clearly, they are welcome. In France, we are proud to be pioneers,” a CoinDesk report quoted Benoît de Juvigny, Secretary General of the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF). The AMF is essentially the financial markets authority of France. At present,
