Infosys Inks AI Deal With Estimated $2 Billion Target Spend Over Five Years: Details

India's second-largest software services exporter Infosys said on Monday it has signed a deal with an existing client to provide artificial intelligence (AI) and automation services that will span over five years, with a target spend estimated at $2 billion (roughly Rs. 16,400 crore). AI and automation-related development, modernization, and maintenance services are included in the agreement, the company said in an exchange filing. The company did not disclose the client's name. As Microsoft-backed OpenAI's generative chatbot, ChatGPT took the world by storm in late 2022, companies around the world have doubled down on investing in AI. Infosys' move comes after rival Tata Consultancy Services said it planned to train 25,000 engineers to get them certified on Microsoft's Azure Open AI. Another rival Wipro has plans to invest $1 billion (roughly Rs. 8,200 crore) into artificial intelligence (AI) over the next three years. Bengaluru-based Infosys launched a platfo

US SEC Developing Rules to Govern Use of AI on Trading Platforms

Wall Street's top regulator is developing rules to govern the use of artificial intelligence on trading platforms, which poses a risk of conflicts of interest, the agency chief said in a speech on Monday. The US Securities and Exchange Commission will also need "new thinking" to confront challenges to financial stability presented by the use of technologies such as predictive analytics and machine learning, according to Chair Gary Gensler. Gensler's remarks are part of a broader US government effort to promote what officials call "responsible" innovation while also managing what they say are threats the emerging technology poses to public safety. If a trading platform's AI system considers the interest of both the platform and its customers, "this can lead to conflicts of interest," Gensler said, according to a copy of prepared remarks, adding that he had tasked SEC staff with recommending new regulatory proposals to address this. AI could

‘It Could Evolve Into Jarvis’: Race Towards 'Autonomous' AI Agents and Copilots Grips Silicon Valley

Around a decade after virtual assistants like Siri and Alexa burst onto the scene, a new wave of AI helpers with greater autonomy is raising the stakes, powered by the latest version of the technology behind ChatGPT and its rivals. Experimental systems that run on GPT-4 or similar models are attracting billions of dollars of investment as Silicon Valley competes to capitalize on the advances in AI. The new assistants - often called "agents" or "copilots" - promise to perform more complex personal and work tasks when commanded to by a human, without needing close supervision. "High level, we want this to become something like your personal AI friend," said developer Div Garg, whose company MultiOn is beta-testing an AI agent. "It could evolve into Jarvis, where we want this to be connected to a lot of your services," he added, referring to Tony Stark's indispensable AI in the Iron Man films. "If you want to do something, you go ta

Apple Watch Ultra 2023 to Be Manufactured With 3D Printed Parts: Ming-Chi Kuo

Apple is said to be working on the second generation of Apple Watch Ultra, which will succeed the Apple Watch Ultra unveiled last year in September. The timeline for the launch of the Apple Watch Ultra second generation has not been announced yet. A previous report suggested that the next Watch Ultra could be launched in 2026. Now, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has given some new insights about the design of the upcoming smartwatch from Apple, along with the names of the key suppliers for the components. In a post published on Medium, Kuo claimed that Apple could be adopting 3D printing technology for its upcoming Apple Watch Ultra. The wearable is said to get 3D-printed mechanical parts including the digital crown, side button, and action button. These parts are currently built using a CNC (Computer Numerical Control) process. He also added while 3D printing too will have to go through the CNC process for back-end processes, it is said to save money on production costs for Apple. It is al
