Meta to Go Ahead With Acquisition of VR Platform Within Unlimited as FTC Withdraws Case

The Federal Trade Commission voted to withdraw an antitrust complaint challenging Meta Platforms's purchase of virtual-reality startup Within Unlimited, officially closing the agency's case. The FTC sued to block the deal last year, filing twin complaints in federal court and its in-house court. Following a December trial in a San Jose federal court, US District Judge Edward Davila found in favor of Meta , ruling the FTC didn't offer enough evidence to prove that the acquisition would harm competition in the nascent virtual-reality industry. The FTC opted this month against appealing Davila's decision and paused the administrative case while it considered next steps. Although the judge's ruling allowed Meta to close the deal on February 10, the FTC could have continued its case in administrative court and sought to unwind the transaction. Samsung's Galaxy S22 Ultra was, and still is, a very capable smartphone. However, it was more about merging the Note line and Galaxy line above anything else. We finally had a well-integrated S Pen in a camera-oriented Galaxy S series smartphone. It was the ultimate Samsung smartphone, with nothing left out, priced from Rs. 1,09,999. Rather than going for a complete overhaul this year with the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Samsung has created a device that will feel very familiar to a Galaxy S22 Ultra user, but with a twist. The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra  uses a brand-new primary camera sensor to enable a better imaging experience, and a Qualcomm SoC that has been customised to (hopefully) deliver better performance. MediaTek to Unveil Satellite Connectivity on Android Phones at MWC 2023, Showcase Dimensity 9200 SoC

MediaTek has announced that it will be showcasing a host of demos on innovations and developments undertaken by the chipset manufacturer at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 scheduled to commence in Barcelona, Spain on February 27, 2023. The demonstrations will include MediaTek's take on enabling satellite connectivity on Android smartphones, through support for 3GPP Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) in its chips. The company has also announced that it plans to launch support for 5G New Radio NTN (NR-NTN) in the near future. The development comes after rival companies have also made similar plans public, with Qualcomm announcing Snapdragon Satellite, while Samsung has also debuted its take on the technology for its' Exynos chipsets. Satellite communication technology, or support for 3GPP Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) in chipsets, will allow for two-way communication via satellite directly from an Android smartphone. Xiaomi Civi 2 was launched in September last year featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, and a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 main sensor. Civi-branded smartphones from Xiaomi have been headlined by their camera and image quality, with a special focus on front-facing cameras for vlogging. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer is now being tipped to launch the Xiaomi Civi 3 as a successor to the Xiaomi Civi 2, that was launched in China last year. The upcoming smartphone is tipped to feature a MediaTek Dimensity 8000 SoC, while sporting an improved 50-megapixel primary sensor. According to details shared by tipster Digital Chat Station via Chinese microblogging website Weibo , Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the purported Xiaomi Civi 3. The handset will feature a 6.55-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED display that offers a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, as per the tipster.
