Android competitors like Samsung, Google and Oppo use the periscopic lens in some of their high-end phones. A new report now suggests that the periscopic lens will also come with the iPhone 16 Pro model. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 16 Pro is expected to sport a 'slightly larger' display than the 6.1-inch panels of the iPhone 14 Pro . OpenAI Chief to Propose Mandatory License for Firms Building ChatGPT-Like Powerful AI at US Congress

OpenAI , the startup behind ChatGPT , wants the US to consider mandating licenses for companies to develop powerful artificial intelligence like the kind underpinning its chatbot, its chief executive plans to tell Congress on Tuesday. In his first appearance before a congressional panel, CEO Sam Altman is set to advocate licensing or registration requirements for AI with certain capabilities, his written testimony shows. European Union states on Tuesday gave the final nod to the world's first comprehensive set of rules to regulate cryptoassets on Tuesday, piling pressure on countries such as Britain and the United States to play catch up. An EU finance minister meeting in Brussels approved rules that were thrashed out with the European Parliament, which gave its approval in April. Regulating crypto has become more urgent for regulators after the collapse of crypto exchange FTX . "Recent events have confirmed the urgent need for imposing rules which will better protect Europeans who have invested in these assets, and prevent the misuse of crypto industry for the purposes of money laundering and financing of terrorism," said Elisabeth Svantesson, finance minister for Sweden, which holds the EU presidency. The rules require firms that want to issue, trade and safeguard cryptoassets, tokenised assets and stablecoins in the 27 country bloc to obtain a licence. Crypto firms say they want

British mobile phone giant Vodafone on Tuesday said it planned to axe 11,000 jobs over the next three years as new chief executive Margherita Della Valle seeks a "simpler" organisation. "Our performance has not been good enough," Della Valle said alongside news of flat annual revenue at the group. At 11,000 positions, Vodafone is seen axing more than 10 percent of its global workforce, which stood at 104,000 staff last year. "To consistently deliver, Vodafone must change," Della Valle added in a statement. "We will simplify our organisation, cutting out complexity to regain our competitiveness," added Della Valle, appointed CEO on a permanent basis at the start of May after five months as interim boss. Vodafone's announcement follows the axing this year of tens of thousands of jobs across the global tech sector, including by Facebook parent Meta , as soaring inflation weakened the economy.
