Chinese smartphone makers, including Oppo Mobile , Vivo India and Xiaomi Technology , have been found evading taxes worth Rs. 9,000 crore in India, Parliament was informed on Friday.  Data shared by the Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar in Rajya Sabha showed tax evasion of around Rs. 9,000 crore, comprising customs duty and GST, has been detected between 2018-19 and 2022-23. The government has recovered Rs. 1,629.87 crore from the companies during the period. According to the data, Oppo Mobile India has been found evading Rs. 5,086 crore in taxes which includes Rs. 4,403 crore in customs duty and Rs. 683 crore in the form of GST. Vivo has evaded taxes worth Rs. 2,923.25 crore comprising Rs. 2,875 crore in customs duty and Rs. 48.25 crore in GST, according to the written reply by Chandrasekhar. Toyota Motor plans to use regenerative fuel cell technology to power a manned lunar rover , executives said on Friday, raising the prospect of eventually using the moon 's water ice as an energy source in the future. Japan has stepped up its space ambitions under Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. It is participating in NASA 's Artemis programme and plans to have an astronaut at a lunar space station called Gateway as part of that in the latter half of the 2020's.  Toyota has teamed up with Japan's space agency since 2019 to develop the manned lunar rover — which it dubbed the Lunar Cruiser — that they hope can be put on the moon in 2029. FTX Trading on Thursday sued founder Sam Bankman-Fried and other former executives of the cryptocurrency exchange, seeking to recoup more than $1 billion (nearly Rs. 8,200 crore) they allegedly misappropriated before FTX went bankrupt. The complaint filed in Delaware bankruptcy court also names as defendants Caroline Ellison, who led Bankman-Fried's Alameda Research hedge fund; former FTX technology chief Zixiao "Gary" Wang; and former FTX engineering director Nishad Singh. FTX said the defendants continually misappropriated funds to finance luxury condominiums, political contributions, speculative investments, and other "pet projects," while committing "one of the largest financial frauds in history." OpenAI's head of trust and safety Dave Willner is leaving the company, he said in a LinkedIn post on Friday, citing the pressures of the job on his family life and saying he would be available for advisory work. OpenAI did not immediately respond to questions about Willner's exit. Trust and safety departments have taken on a high-profile role in technology companies such as OpenAI, Twitter , Alphabet and Meta as they seek to limit the spread of hate speech, misinformation and other harmful content on their platforms. Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk on Wednesday set new targets for artificial intelligence products including self-driving software and using humanoid robots in factories, though he acknowledged he's been optimistic before. The electric vehicle maker is in early talks with a major automaker to license its full self-driving technology, Musk added. The value of Tesla vehicles would rise in perhaps "the single biggest step change in history" once regulators approved self-driving, he said at an earnings briefing. Musk has also said that Tesla robots, in the pilot phase, could become a huge product. He said they could help out on Tesla's factory floors as soon as next year, although only about 10 have been built to date.
