FeaturePrint App Claimed to Identify Fake Products Using AI and a Smartphone Photo: How it Works

Identifying counterfeit and fake products can be a difficult task and requires ample knowledge of the characteristics and appearance of the original objects. A new artificial intelligence-based app claims to identify whether a product is genuine based on a single photo clicked with a smartphone. The app uses optical AI to identify an object and does not rely on bar codes, holograms, markers, RFID technology, stickers, or engraved markings. However, it can only authenticate products that are already registered with the service. Developed by Washington-based Alitheon, the FeaturePrint app can be installed on a smartphone and used for "identification, authentication, or traceability" of a product. Without special scanners or cameras, a user can point their smartphone at a product and identify an authentic product for high value items like gold bars and luxury items, while tracing supply chains and detecting counterfeit items. According to Alitheon's website, the FeatureP

Computex 2023: Nvidia, MediaTek to Partner on Car Technology for Streaming, Games, AI-Driven Interaction

Nvidia and MediaTek on Monday said they will collaborate on technology to power advanced vehicle infotainment systems that can stream video or games or interact with drivers using artificial intelligence . Under the agreement, announced at the Computex technology trade show in Taipei, MediaTek will integrate an Nvidia graphic processing unit chiplet and Nvidia software into the system-on-chips it supplies to automakers for infotainment displays. MediaTek systems using Nvidia software would be compatible with automated driving systems based on Nvidia technology, the companies said. Dashboard displays could show the environment around the vehicle, while cameras would monitor the driver. "The automotive industry needs strong companies that can work with the industry for decades at a time," Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang told a news conference in Taipei, pointing to a long product cycle for car makers. MediaTek Says It Will Use Arm’s Latest Mobile Chip Technology for Next-Generation Smartphones

Arm on Monday rolled out new chip technology for mobile devices and Taiwan smartphone chip maker MediaTek said it will be using it for its next-generation product. MediaTek , a longtime supplier of low- and mid-tier smart phone chips, has been pushing into the market to supply chips for premium smartphones, once dominated by rival Qualcomm , which has been in a legal battle with Arm since last year over chip licensing agreements. In Arm's blog announcing the new products, MediaTek said the new chips will help improve the performance of its next-generation smartphones. Arm sells blueprints chip designers use to build their own hardware. It is launching Immortalis-G720, a chip for video image processing and AI applications, and the Cortex-X4, a processor that would be the brains of the mobile device at Taiwan's Computex conference. Arm said both new chips have 15 percent better performance than their previous generations, and the Cortex-X4 uses 40 percent less power, key fo
