Apple Watch Ultra With MicroLED Display May Launch in Second Half of 2025

Apple was widely speculated to use upgraded microLED displays in Apple Watch models next year. However, a new leak by DSCC analyst Ross Young contradicts this rumour as he claims that the Cupertino-based company will not bring microLED display technology to the Apple Watch before the second half of 2025. Apple Watch currently comes equipped with OLED displays. MicroLED display offers high resolution and colour contrast compared to OLED technology. The iPhone lineup, followed by iPad and Mac units is also expected to switch from OLED to micro-LED in the future. DSCC analyst Ross Young tweeted that Apple would release an Apple Watch with a microLED display in the second half of 2025 at the earliest. The new leak denies past reports that claimed that the Apple Watch Ultra with microLED display will show up by the end of 2024. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman earlier in January  opined that Apple would replace the current OLED standard with microLED technology in its iPhone, iPad, and Mac

Mastercard Plans to Expand Crypto Payment Card Programme With New Tie-Ups

Mastercard will expand its cryptocurrency payment card programme by seeking more partnerships with crypto firms, the company's head of crypto and blockchain said, even as the sector comes under closer scrutiny from regulators and banks grow wary. Mastercard has already partnered with crypto exchanges including Binance , Nexo and Gemini to offer crypto-linked payment cards in some countries. The Binance cards allow users to make payments in traditional currencies, funded by their cryptocurrency holdings on the exchange. "We have dozens of partners around the world who offer crypto card programmes and they continue to expand," Raj Dhamodharan, Mastercard 's head of crypto and blockchain, told Reuters on Thursday. "Providing access to crypto in a safe way is also part of our value proposition and we're continuing to do that." Banks have become wary of crypto clients after a number of big crypto firms collapsed last year, including the bankruptcy of ma

Microsoft Signs 10-Year Deal With Nware After UK Blocks Activision Acquisition

Microsoft said on Friday it signed a 10-year deal with Nware to bring Xbox and Activision Blizzard games to the Spanish cloud-gaming platform, days after Britain blocked its $69 billion (nearly Rs. 5,64,200 crore) buyout of the Call of Duty maker. The agreement marks the latest effort by Microsoft to ease fears its purchase of Activision would hinder competition in cloud gaming, which was the reason cited by the Competition and Markets Authority to veto the biggest deal in gaming. "While it's still early for the emerging cloud segment in gaming, this new partnership combined with our other recent commitments will make more popular games available on more cloud game streaming services than they are today," Microsoft President Brad Smith said. The Xbox console maker, which plans to appeal CMA's decision, has signed similar deals with the owners of streaming platforms including Valve , Nvidia and Boosteroid. It had also offered Sony — a vocal opponent of the d

Intel’s Quarterly Revenue Records Historic Fall of 36 Percent as Semiconductor Sales Drop

Intel on Thursday posted a massive fall in sales for the first quarter of 2023 because of a steep drop in the demand for semiconductors -- or chips -- that power personal computers and smartphones. Intel's revenue fell 36 percent to $11.7 billion (roughly Rs. 95,629 crore) in the three-month period and the semiconductor giant posted a loss of $2.8 billion (roughly Rs. 22,885 crore), its biggest ever for a quarter. Rising prices, a global chip glut and poor demand for hardware also punished Intel's rival Samsung , which earlier on Thursday reported its worst quarterly profits in 14 years. The loss and sales collapse was slightly less catastrophic than expectations, but the stock still lost about two percent in post-session trading. Intel is one of the world's leading semiconductor makers that makes a wide range of products, including the latest generation chips along with Taiwan's TSMC and South Korea's Samsung. It was also affected by falling demand for chips
